A Poll for Boomers and Seniors
Do you usually get your books from on-line stores like Amazon.com, from brick-and-mortar book stores, from other retail stores, or from the library?
Yesterday I posted a poll asking that question, but I've discovered that the poll format does not work. Please keep on adding your comments here. I'm still anxious to learn about where you get most of your books.

For some strange reason, I cannot vote on this question...the vote doesn't go through to your blog. But I must say that I do buy, at least, a dozen non-fiction books each month from Amazon and perhaps another half dozen from local stores. I also have purchased dozens of music albums and DVD's from Amazon.com this year alone. I find Amazon to be easy and quick to use and the items arrive in just a few days by USPS. Happy reading!! I buy more books than I read. I usually buy at bookstores when I've had a chance to peruse them for a little while. If they just catch my fancy, I jot down the title and read the reviews on Amazon. I love to shop for books and I have a "To Read" shelf with lots of choices. But I still enjoy acquiring more. I wonder if I'm a bookaholic.
I'm usually in the middle of reading several books: one in the car, one in my purse, one on my nightstand, one on my desk, and one to read while I watch TV.
I tried to vote, but it would not work. I either get my books from a book store or the library. I am trying the library more now so I don't have to decide what to do with those books after I read them.
Ditto to Travelinoma's first sentence! I am NOT going to allow myself another purchase until I read the seven that I've bought recently. I think my purchases would even out to 50/50 Border's (store venue) and Amazon.com. I like my local Border's because I can take advantage of membership coupons I get online. But I tend to go overboard there, where at Amazon I'm more restrained - in spite of their pop-ups that urge me to add such-and-such more in order to have free shipping.
Amazon has its good and bad points for me. I'm in New Zealand so Amazon is brilliant for books that don't make it to our shores. On the neg side, postage has become very expensive so I now have to think twice about buying overseas.
There is a very splendid indie bookstore near where I live which I frequent. I also make use of the second-hand bookshops (three in my area) ... I'm starting to sound spoilt! Cheers, Erin
I like Amazon because they carry everything and usually at lower prices than the bookstores, plus free shipping if over $25. If you know the title or author you can find it immediately vs having to find and ask someone. I have a wishlist there and can read customer reviews and search inside books. I do occasionally enjoy going to my local B&N to actually touch the books and browse.
